5x8 Outdoor Rugs

Our 5x8 outdoor rugs fit a bistro set, a balcony or the space outside an RV door. Most are reversible polypropylene that you hose off; the rest have a soft chenille top and non-slip backing, and go in the washing machine. Nearly all also come in 6x9 and 8x10.

What Fits on a 5x8 Rug

A 5x8 is 60 by 96 inches, or 40 square feet. That's room for a bistro table and two chairs, a loveseat and side table, or a picnic for three or four people.

For a four-seat dining set or a full lounge group, step up to 8x10 or 9x12; most designs here come in both.

5x8 or 5x7?

On our site 5x8 is an outdoor size. Our indoor rugs come in 5x7 instead, which is a foot shorter at 60 by 84 inches.

Polypropylene 5x8s also work indoors, though the plastic-straw surface feels firmer than an indoor rug's pile.

5x8 Outdoor Rug FAQs

Is 5x8 a standard rug size?

Yes, 5x8 is a standard size for outdoor rugs, and every rug in this collection comes in it. It's big enough to anchor a small seating area without crowding a balcony.

What is the best outdoor rug for a concrete patio?

One that lets water drain through and dries quickly, so moisture doesn't sit trapped on the slab, which is how the polypropylene rugs here work. Since stakes won't go into concrete, set chairs or planters on the corners on windy days.

Can you wash an outdoor rug in a washing machine?

Only the chenille-top 5x8s: wash them on a gentle, low-temperature cycle in a washer big enough for the rug to move freely. The reversible polypropylene rugs stay out of the washer and away from strong vacuums, so sweep or hose them off and let them air dry.
