Our washable shag rugs have a soft 1.6-inch pile, far deeper than our low-pile rugs. The Haven shag comes in green, black or beige checks on white, in 4x6, 5x7, 6x9 and 8x10. It goes in the washing machine and suits bedrooms, kids' rooms and reading corners where you sit on the floor.

Shag vs. Low Pile
Shag has long, loose fibers that your feet sink into, about 1.6 inches deep on the Haven. Our other rugs are low pile and thin, which suits kitchens, entryways and spots where chairs slide.
Pick shag where comfort underfoot matters most, and low pile where spills, doors and chair legs are part of daily life.
Where a Shag Rug Works
A 5x7 or 6x9 beside or under a bed gives you something soft to step onto in the morning. In a kids' room or playroom, an 8x10 covers enough floor to sit and play on.
Skip shag in front of the sink, at the front door or under a dining table, where a low-pile rug is easier to keep clean and chairs slide freely.
Shag Rug FAQs
What is a shag rug?
A shag rug has a deep, loose pile, usually an inch or more, that gives it a fluffy look and feel. The Haven here has about 1.6 inches of pile in a classic check.
What are fluffy rugs called?
They usually go by shag, shaggy or high-pile rugs, and very soft synthetic ones are also sold as plush rugs. Faux fur rugs look similar but copy an animal pelt rather than a cut pile.
What is the best way to wash a shaggy rug?
Shake it out and vacuum with the beater bar off, then wash it as the care label says; the Haven is machine washable, so the whole rug goes into a washer that is big enough. Let it dry completely before it goes back on the floor so the pile stays fluffy.
