Our 4x6 rugs fit beside a bed, under a small coffee table or in a wide entryway. The indoor styles are low-pile prints with a non-slip backing, and they go in a home washer. This size also has outdoor rugs for a balcony or small patio, either reversible polypropylene or with a soft chenille top.

4x6 Rug Placement by Room
A 4x6 carpet covers about 48 x 72 inches, or 24 square feet, so it anchors one piece of furniture rather than a whole seating group.
| Room | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Bedroom | One side of the bed |
| Living room | Under a small coffee table |
| Entryway | Centered in a wide foyer |
| Home office | Under desk and chair |
| Reading nook | In front of an armchair |
Balcony and Patio Rugs
The outdoor rugs in this size suit a balcony, a small patio or a camping trip.
Reversible polypropylene styles flip to a second side and clean with a broom or a hose. Chenille-top patio rugs feel softer underfoot and have a non-slip backing.
4x6 Rug FAQs
Is a 4x6 rug big enough for a bedroom?
It is big enough for one side of a bed or the foot of a twin or full bed. To have rug showing on both sides of a queen, go up to a 6x9 or 8x10.
How many people can sit on a 4x6 rug?
Two to three, going by our outdoor rug size guide, which makes a 4x6 a picnic or balcony size. A group of four to six needs a 6x9.
Can I wash a 4x6 rug in the washing machine?
Yes for the indoor and chenille patio styles, which fit any washer from 2.2 cu ft on a cold, gentle cycle without bleach. The reversible polypropylene rugs are the exception, so hose those off and keep a vacuum beater bar off them.
